We made it

Our adventure began early Monday morning as we left our house at 3 am for the airport. We were groggy but excited as pulled out of the driveway for the last time as a family of 3.  Thankfully we didn’t hit any NYC traffic and made it to the gate with plenty of time to spare and stretch our legs before the long flight.  Luke was an excellent traveler and watched more movies in 16 hours than he has in the past two months combined! He also got an abundance of rice and noodles for inflight meals. How could a kid not love this!

We settled into our hotel room and chuckled when we saw the size of the “queen” beds, which are actually more like a full.  We’ll have some close sleeping quarters, but with all things we are grateful and will make it work.  We explored the local area and went to dinner (Laura needed some vegetables), and although the food was delicious we all had difficulty staying awake.  James and Luke were literally asleep 10 minutes after getting back to our hotel room.

As we write this, it is 5 am and we are excited about meeting Hin Hin in person today. We were talking as a family and all have an excited, quiet peace about the meeting. We know this peace we feel can only come from the Lord, as he has been faithful through this entire journey. We’ll meet with his social worker first and then travel to his foster home to spend the day together. Around 3pm we will return to the hotel and Hin Hin will stay at his foster home. We’ll spend time together over the next couple days to get to know each other before he stays with us at the hotel.

Our prayer today is that the Lord will shine his light through us and be with us as we connect with Hin Hin.
